There is too much good music out there to dance to a bad tune on your wedding day. If you missed it, I compiled my favorites here.
And this month, in honor of Father’s Day, I’m setting out to save all the Dad’s out there from bad music when it comes to your Father Daughter Dance.
Wild World | Cat Stevens
That’s How Strong My Love Is | Ottis Reading
Cecilia and The Satellite | Andrew McMahon
Unexpected more dancey song. I love this if you plan to invite guests to join you on the dance floor. It could easily transition into a great dance set which is often what follows the Father/Daughter dance
I Lived | One Republic
I can’t believe a boy band is making one of my playlists but I do love this song and think it could be a great transition into a lively dance floor with all your guests.
Hold My Hand | Hootie & The Blowfish
Ok. I know you’re thinking, Hootie & The Blowfish?! Here’s the story. My adorable, hero of my world of a grandfather, knew one “cool” band when I was in middle school and it was, you guessed it Hootie and The Blowfish. True to his “character” of a persona he would find a way to reference them in any conversation with someone under the age of 18. If he were still here today I’d dance to this song with him all night. Love you Grampy! Listening to the lyrics again this week it’s actually a sweet song and great tempo if you don’t want a true slow song.
Landslide | Fleetwood Mac
You didn’t think I could do a playlist without my girl Stevie did you?
One Call Away | Charlie Puth
A perfect modern choice
Wildflowers | Tom Petty
This is what I danced with my Dad to. Still a favorite 13 years later
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic | Police
One of the best refrains of all time. You’re just going to have to have the band rework the “every little thing she do turns me on” line.
You Got It | Roy Orbison
Take the FREE and start planning a wedding that feels uniquely you.
The truth is I hated planning my own wedding. I felt like I was going it alone and was surprised by how hard it was to find partners who embraced my vision. Thankfully, the guy was worth it and that experience is what led me to become a wedding planner. After a decade of planning luxury weddings I am bringing my process to you.
