Wedding Hair

Ladies! It’s time to talk about wedding hair and makeup. As you think about adding the glam squad to your dream team ask yourself these questions:

1. where will wedding hair and makeup happen? In the salon, someone’s home, a hotel or your venue? Some stylists and artists will not go on location or charge a very high premium to do so. Make sure you know what you’re asking for when you inquire about pricing.

2. how many people will need wedding hair and makeup? Outside of you and your bridesmaids will mothers, grandmothers or flower girls also be included? This number will drive how many stylists and artists you need. People are often shocked by how early hair and makeup needs to start. I like to estimate 30-45 minutes for each woman’s makeup and 1 hour for each woman’s hair. That adds up quickly.

3. as you think about the number of women needing wedding hair & makeup make sure it can be accommodated in the space you have in mind. Most hotel rooms are not going to accommodate 10 women for hair and makeup. Hair and makeup can do a number on a hotel room. If you’re planning on getting dressed in this same room make sure you have a tribe that will help tidy up a bit.

4. do you anticipate your bridesmaids will have strong opinions about their own wedding hair and makeup? Most tribes I’ve gotten to work with are AMAZING. If you’re worried about anyone bringing drama to the getting ready party I suggest putting them in touch directly with the team you hire. They’re likely just apprehensive about the whole process. Having that one-on-one conversation will hopefully be enough to put them at ease. 

And please please please don’t forget to eat while you’re getting ready. One sandwich isn’t going to change how you fit into your dress but it will affect your mood and how much you enjoy the day.
